In this podcast, Kevin Downes, MD, discusses procalcitonin as a marker for sepsis, how a procalcitonin test fares among other diagnostic tests, and how this testing can guide antibiotic stewardship.

Kevin J. Downes, MD, is an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and an attending physician in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). He is also faculty of the Center for Pediatric Clinical Effectiveness and the Center for Clinical Pharmacology at CHOP.
